Default The amazing Rays

Got to hand it to this franchise, with poor attendance and a low payroll year after year they continue to come up with players from their farm system especially pitchers and make some very good trades. Since 2008, The Ray's have won more games than any team except the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers, pretty good company. The front office from ownership on down are very smart people. What is a crying shame is that the Tampa Bay area just won't support the team. 2027 will be here before you know it and the Ray's will be playing Baseball in another town unless a miracle occurs and the team gets a new stadium near Downtown Tampa, right now I don't see that happening.

Pity we can't do a hostile takeover with that money we didn't spend.

Isn't it refreshing to see what an organization, with professionals up and down the organizational ladder, can accomplish? I am sorry that they may move out of your area. With the population growth of Tampa maybe that relocation issue gets revisited by 2027.

The franchises have gone in very different directions since Javy Vasquez melted down in the 2008 ALDS.

The Rays, who won 68 games in 2016, made one of the great trades of the decade by trading AWAY their top pitcher (at least one who consistently was hyped). They did it in July; and while not exactly a contender, were in the middle of a 90 win season.

I'm still glad we moved on from him. He is not good enough to be a regular on a serious contender.

Management, players, staff, and even owners come and go, the team is the team.

I’m not. I would’ve preferred a White Sox OF of Jimenez in LF Engel in a platoon situation in CF and Avi in RF. I HATED seeing Leury Garcia in CF so much this year, he’s NOT an outfielder by any stretch of the imagination.

He's at least as good a fielder as Avi, but that isn't saying much.

Wild card teams are not serious contenders.
