That 98 mph pitch he spotted high and tight in the zone was absolutely filthy. Just a thing of beauty.

My favorite pitch of his start was actually the "91mph" change up.

The stuff is certainly as advertised. I was sitting about 15 rows behind the left side of the Twins dugout. I've never seen a pitch get an audible gasp from a crowd like that 91 MPH changeup. It looked like a slider. The fastball was sitting at 97 but you got the impression he was in control and could have reared it back even more if he wanted to.

Very excited to see him back out there, agreed with those who said the rain delay and getting the yayas out over 2 innings/50 pitches might not be a bad thing.

This game should be super reassuring to anyone who thinks the losing of the past few years has the team on the edge of fading into Bolivian, as Mike Tyson would say. The crowd was tangibly excited, the guy at the ticket window said it was the biggest walkup crowd he'd seen in years. When more of the kids start coming up and the results start coming, slowly but surely, the fans WILL come back.

eh, IMO why the hell not have some fun with his debut. Lord knows we Sox fans have had very few reasons to celebrate the last several years.

Had he been on the Cubs, he would've had an hour pre-game show along with his own folk song...

The hype really wasn't THAT bad. It was a bit cheesy. I was having fun with it.

Overhyped prospect destined to fail. The differential between his 0.00 ERA and 0.66 FIP shows it's just a matter of time until he gets lit up.

Although it was a little bit of a pain to drive through on the way home from work yesterday around 5, it was nice to see cars lined up to park on 35th for the game.

Scott Merkin mentioned something on Twitter about a walkup of 8,000 fans. That's cool.

As for watching the game on TV, Benetti mentioned something about fans not needing seats when Kopech reached two strikes on a batter because they were all up cheering and hanging on almost every pitch. That was amazing to see.

I know I was talking to the TV more than I usually do during games. I also liked the cameras capturing Kopech speaking with Lopez and gesturing how quickly his heart was beating at the start.

Looking forward to watching Kopech pitch Sunday. And if anyone from the Sox' marketing department reads any of these comments, please remember the bigger and taller Sox fans when ordering the Kopech player-t-shirts.

I wish the kid well. I hope he does great things for the Sox.

Sox site has these probables:

Wed 8/22 Rodon
Thur 8/23 Shields
Fri 8/24 TBA
Sat 8/25 Lopez
Sun 8/26 Giolito

Even if it is confirmed that we are on a five-man rotation with Covey to the bullpen, with no days off till September 6 could there be some spot starts? This Friday's TBA seems too soon for Kopech, but then he only threw a couple of innings on Tuesday. I am thinking he will pitch against BOS over Labor Day weekend at home but which days? Inquiring (ticket-buying) minds want to know!

Oh, wow. I thought I had seen something on Twitter about Kopech going Sunday. Either way, I'll be watching when he pitches again. Thanks for the update. Much appreciated.

Thursday would have been Covey's day before Kopech replaced him in the rotation. My guess is that Lopez and Giolito remain on regular rest and Kopech pitches Sunday in Detroit and Friday against Boston in Chicago.

That's how ESPN has it lined up.

LOL! I could totally see that happening with the Cubs.
