I believe SB Nation covered just that topic earlier this year, I will try to find the article.
The levels of speculation here are astounding. Start with "he's ready," when no one knows what the Sox have told him he needs to do in order to be called up. For example, they may have said "we want you to sustain performance for more than 2 months in AAA," because for example, after mashing for 2 months, he's hitting .268/.305.464 in 56 August ABs. That's a small sample, but so is the 62 July ABs where he hit .435/.455/.839.

Then layer on that despite Sox talking with him (and presumably his agent) about when he's ready and what he needs to accomplish, he believes he's getting "screwed." And add another layer which is that the agent is disgruntling him 6 years before he can do anything about it, which is counterproductive in terms of making sure the team treats him well over the next 6 years - during which a lot can happen including poor performance, injury, etc.

And then most of all, assume that 6 years later he's going to hold a grudge regardless of how he's been treated from whenever he's called up, how the team has performed, how the city/marketing has gone, etc. And that if the Sox offer him a deal he'd otherwise want, he'll decline it because of said grudge.

If you know all that, I can only assume your real name is Biff Tannen.

In all seriousness though I think the overreaction will be inevitable though I hope it's somewhat tempered. Unless he throws a Maddux and strikes out 18, or goes 0.1 IP and gives up 5 walks and 10 ER, tonight's game won't mean too much. It's just one game.

At least we know that his agent will be more likely to let him sign a Sox-friendly extension in several years!

Forecasts and radar make it look like we might get a sprinkling tonight, but not much more.

Looks like tonight's gonna happen guys.

I think bringing up Kopech is probably about throwing a bone to those White Sox fans who need something to look forward to after enduring this miserable season.

I think it's a risky move. I hope Kopech pitches lights out, but what if he gets his ears pinned back? What if Kopech does as poorly as Moncada? It will just reinforce the negativity surrounding the Sales trade.

Default Kopech Tonight!

25K is my attendance guess line tonight. Are we going over or under?

I'm taking the over and predicting 28K. That was about the number for Moncada's debut.

Default Tonight

I'll be there to see Mr. K along with my daughter. Hopefully other Sox Fans can join us. I know it's not easy with only 2 days notice on a Tuesday night with many schools back in session.
