Agreed. I had minor outpatient sinus surgery and my heart literally stopped beating when I was intubated. They restarted my heart with epinephrine, and I woke up having had no idea anything happened until the anesthesiologist recounted the sequence of events.

Id much rather all our players avoid surgery, but happily Tommy John surgery has an amazing success rate.

Line of the day for our minor league pitchers:

Great Falls Voyagers
Spencer Moran 6 4 1 0 0 11

Looks like he pitched four seasons in the Rays system, not badly, and made it to low A. Released by the Rays in March, signed by the Sox on April 16.

Moran is 22 and 6'6". We just drafted some players older than that and assigned them to Great Falls, so he's worth following, even if Spencer Adams is the same age and pitching for Charlotte.

Old scouting report:

Right, which could lead to TJ (that's what the poster your quoted said).

....also a nice AA debut for Flores yesterday. 7.0 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 2 K

Blake Battenfield picking up right where he left Kannapolis.

Dealing tonight for Winston.

5 IP; 2 H; 0 ER; 0 BB ; 4 KS so far.

This kid has been the best SP in the farm so far.

Solid outing for Kopech

6 IP ; 4H; 0ER ; 2BB ; 9Ks

2 injury scares in his last inning. But made it out OK it appears.

The first one was on a pitch, looked like he was favoring his lower body. Then covering home plate on a wild pitch. Got into a semi- collision with the runner. Almost face first. Got the out.

Battenfield is extremely impressive. His control is fantastic.

Laz Rivera and Luis Gonzalez still playing a great role in being guys who play a role at one point or another for the big club.

Good to see Kopech get himself back on track. If I remember correctly it was around this time last year that something clicked and he went on a stretch of something like 60K/10BB over 45 IP to wrap up his time in Birmingham. It'd be nice to see him rattle off three or four more starts like tonight to get him up in the big leagues the last 6-8 weeks of the season.

Laz 5/5 today. We might have found a gem, folks.

The Dash lost two stud pitchers to start the year, lost some outfield talent and got...... better.

Probably because Gonzalez and Rivera are good one for one replacements offensively, and Battenfield could be another hidden gem.

Laz Rivera for W-S tonight is 5 for 5, with HR, 2 doubles, 5 runs scored, SF, and 2 RBI.

I'll be watching his progress closely. It would be great if someone like him emerges as a (pleasant and unexpected) productive player for the major-league team.

Any word as to why Robert was lifted in the bottom of the 7th inning? He was HBP in the sixth but stayed in. His last play was a ground out to 3rd. Id like to say maybe it was because it was 10-0 at the time, but there were no other substitutions.

Everything I have read says it is just because of the fact they were ahead.

Good buffer in case Anderson doesn't work out. Can we spot him to third?

Left that Dash game 10-0 in the 7th. Boys went on to put on another 9

Luis Gonzalez continues to rake. Him and Rivera will be interesting to watch from here out.

That Dash lineup when Madrigal gets added to it is going to be some fun watch.
