I haven't been able to watch many of the games, or any of them really, but I thought I was reading that Moncada's problem has been that he's making some really loud outs right now. Is that the case? I just looked at baseball-reference and saw he has 11 strikeouts, which is concerning.

I read that heís third (I think?) in average exit velocity. I can live with the strikeouts if heís hitting 80 XBH and hitting .270+.

Looking at the extremely early returns on Yoan's plate discipline, it looks like he's doing a good job of laying off pitches outside of the strike zone and swinging at more pitches inside the strike zone. However, he's missing more fastballs and pitches inside the zone than previously.

That probably means he is trying to change his approach to cater to more off speed. Honestly, his babip is horrible and he is squaring balls up well. This does have the feel of tough luck.

Yep, exactly. He's young and talented. It's only a matter of time before some of those hard hit balls start flying out of the yard in the summer heat. I'll say it for the umpteenth time, "be patient".

Beginning to feel a bit on edge here. 50 percent k rates donít translate. Something has to give. He is either going through an insane slump, or something else is up. I have never seen a guy with a 50 percent k rate.

He just might wind up being the Dave Nicholson of this decade.

His K rate is 39.6% because it is based on plate appearances, not ABs.

Also, he's had 53 plate appearances.

Tim Anderson currently has a 35.6% K rate.

Davidson's last season was 37.2% over 443 PAs.

So folks, stop it.

Is it really? I thought it was based on ABís- my bad! 40 percent not great, but fair enough.
