Even if we trade away a starter or two, I hope we bring up other guys to fill those roles. I'm even all for demoting Danks to the pen to get other young guys some starts later in the season. I know the Sox won't do that anytime soon though.

At least there will be a savings when he gets cut and we don't spend $1.95 million or more on him next year.

How often does a teams #4/5 starting pitcher pass thru waivers w/o being claimed?

Wouldn't it depend on salary and pitching ability? Most teams probably aren't waiving a 4/5 starter and instead move them to long relief. Noesi is that bad that he's not even useful in that duty. You can get a AAA pitcher for a lot cheaper who will produce more quality than Noesi too.

If we waived Danks, nobody would claim him either. Perhaps another question is how many teams would have multiple starters that could clear waivers?
