Right. A scant few high-end stars, and a roster of nearly all ďmehĒ or worse.

Heyman just tweeted that the Red Sox are trying to work out the deal with Minnesota, but some people are saying itís not a certainty the deal goes through.

It would be nice if Hahn could swoop in and make a better offer to the Red Sox than the Twins can, but Iím not sure what kind of package they would have to construct. Graterol is #83 in MLBPipelineís rankings but probably would fall lower given the concerns over his health perhaps limiting him to bullpen duty. The Sox donít have any similar pitching prospects unless they want to deal from their existing young pitchers. So thereís probably not a good fit.

But though FRATER laughed openly, he wept secretly; and really he neither laughed nor wept. Nor did he mean what he said.

If the Sawx wanted to keep Betts, they should have structured their payroll differently, or paid the tax penalties. They knew how the system works. They prioritized differently, that's on them.

Reynaldo Lopez and either Gavin Sheets or an outfielder. Or we give them Sheets and an outfielder, absorb about $10 more on Priceís contract, and keep Lopez.

If we were stepping in to the Twins role, we would be getting Maeda, not Price.

Just have the Dodgers keep Maeda. They can just do Verdugo for Betts straight-up, which I think they would rather do anyway. Then they flip Joc to the Angels for Rengifo.

The Sawx want their prospect and werenít happy with the physical of the top 100 prospect they got with LAD chipping in Maeda. They arenít just doing anything straight up.

Of all the players involved, the one that makes the most sense for us is Graterol. Twins would not trade him within the division, but Boston could flip him to us. Maybe for Rodon?

If the Betts deal falls through, I don't think the Angels would be obligated or willing to void the Joc deal. So LA has a little extra motivation to work this out.

No one is trading for Carlos Rodon.

If you meant this package to land us Betts I'd make that deal without thinking twice. It'd be risky but well worth it IMO.

I don't believe a team would give up much of anything for Carlos Rodon. They especially would not give up a top 100 prospect like Graterol. That would be fairly absurd for the team trading Graterol.
