If the Dodgers truly want Mookie Betts, then maybe they should just bite the bullet and give up one of their own damn prospects.

Crazy turn of events here.

This is a chance for Rick Hahn to go full-on stealth mode and pick up Price for that 3/$48 or whatever the Dodgers were going to spend on him. Or perhaps tell Boston that they can save even more money, we take him at 3/$60 with none of Boston’s $36 obligation going on this year’s books, and they can either leverage a better return out of the Dodgers for Betts or just keep Betts after clearing Price’s salary.

Offer something like Stiever+Collins+one of the outfield prospects for Price and cash retention of $0/$12/$24, making Price $32/$20/$8 for the White Sox. If they still want to do a Betts trade centered around Verdugo, then the Dodgers can chip in some more prospect depth as well, since they are no longer absorbing Price’s money.

Even before this all went down, the Sox didn't have any interest in Price. Save yourself the time of concocting the 100th trade idea for Price and move on.

No
That's a lot more than the Dodgers are paying for him, among other reasons.
Heck, a month ago, people theorized that we could get Benintendi as a throw-in just for taking Price's contract.

Rays get:

Manuel Margot
Logan Driscoll (prospect)

Padres get:

Emilio Pagan

I don't see the point of this trade but it's the Rays, so it'll probably work out for them. San Diego's bullpen is gonna be really good.

Man, they must really like Driscoll, because Margot=Engel.

I see where the Twins maybe back in on the Betts trade mess. However, I can't decide if it is best for our Sox (worse for the Twins) if they get Maeda or keep Graberol. Your thoughts?

As is the incumbent, Kiermaier. But he's older, he makes (incredibly) 10M per season.
They value defense, and now they have their Kiermaier replacement, although they have Kiermaier signed for 3 more years.

Looks like Twins gave up Graterol + a draft pick, Dodgers gave up a couple extra prospects but kept Graterol. By all accounts BoSox ended up in better shape.

But looks like the Pederson to Angels deal is off, so I wonder what if anything it would take, I've always liked Pederson (although he's a bit redundant w Mazara).
