Default Adrian Beltre Retires

My favorite non-Sox player. Personally, an easy first ballot hall of famer.

What a player. I also enjoyed watching his horseplay with Elvis Andrus. HOF -- no question.

He had an impressive string of great seasons AFTER age 30, including winning a gold glove and getting some MVP votes at age 37.

That 6-yr/$96M contract the Rangers gave him at age 31 in 2011 looks like money well spent.

If Bartolo Colon can't find a team, then no more players who played in the MLB before 2000 will be left. The last three were Beltre, Beltran and Colon.

For years this guy flew under the radar as far as I was concerned. Always putting up decent numbers and then put a few monster years together and about the time he got to the Texas Rangers I noticed he had very quietly and without a lot of publicity had put together a very solid Hall of Fame career.
