The Sox are now just 2 games better than the Mariners, who would have the 6th pick if the season ended today.

Doesn't having a higher pick also boost your bonus pool money? What about the international pool money?

With less than a week to go, the Sox are in the #9 spot now. The Rockies are worse than the Sox at #8 by 1.5 games and the Angels are better than the Sox at #10 by 1.5 games.

The Sox (#9) now only 1/2 game better than the Rockies (#8) and 2.5 games better than the Pirates (#7). We could gain more on the Pirates over the next couple of days as we play a tough team fighting for a WC spot and they play a team that is comically imploding.

The Angels are 2.5 games better than us at #10.

Speaking of the draft, I'm seeing a lot of arms here. Who does everyone want?

If I'm looking at the final standings correctly, the Sox have slipped to 10th pick as they finish at 72-89 and the Angels finish at 72-90.

That still means we can sign a FA who has a QO without losing a draft pick?

No.

Second-highest pick and $500K of international bonus money

I think it's 11th.

Probably should have taken the pedal off the gas a little bit the last few weeks of the season.

D'oh about getting the pick wrong....and d'oh that we've slipped to 11. Though, I believe they've changed the rule so that no team loses a 1st round pick if they sign a FA. It used to be only the teams with the top 10 picks were protected in this manner.

Yeah, that's what happens when we play two series against Detroit over the last 10 days of the season....and when Welington Castillo suddenly has some too little, too late clutch hits the last week of the season after basically being useless during his 2 years with the Sox.

I don't root for the Sox to lose on any given day, but I hope these last couple of meaningless wins don't come back to bite up at draft pick time like it did when we missed out on Benintendi and Jo Adell.

I would love it if Cole Wilcox drops to 11th, I see a mock draft having him go as low as 10th now. That would be a great addition! I think they certainly go pitching if there are 2 players of similar value.
