This made me laugh, not because I want to argue your point, but because it struck me t after Anderson and Moncada finally became hitters, the White Sox let their hitting coach go. |

Ah, yes, the old "let's consider the universe of former Sox players" approach.
Poppycock, I say!

Avi Garcia for hitting coach would be the classic JR move

The thing about Avi is he is one of the only guys being mentioned who plays a legit RF with a good RF arm. Pretty much every one else would be a major detriment in the field. It's pretty much Avi vs. Calhoun if you're limiting the field to competent RFers with solid arms.

I'd like to see the Sox trade for Brandon Nimmo of the Mets for RF. He's 26 with 3 more years of control, lefty, really high OBP (.387 career), and can play all 3 OF spots. Checks off literally every box as far as what the Sox need moving forward. I don't think he would cost any of the top prospects either (1-7).
Then with RF filled, go get Martinez or Castellanos to play DH and rotate with Eloy in LF. Would also like for Hahn to get either Matt Carpenter (have STL eat half of his contract) or sign Mike Moustakas to be the Sox utility guy (1b, 2b, 3b, DH). Second will be vacant at the beginning of the year until Madrigal gets the call so there is a temporary need there, Moncada has been injured for an extended period every year, they can also get plenty of ABs subing in for Madrigal, Moncada, Abreu, Martinez/Castellanos, Eloy (Martinez/Castellanos plays LF), Nimmo (Martinez/Castellanos plays RF) when they need the day off. Carp or Moose would provide a needed lefty bat in the lineup and be valuable depth that is something the Sox will sorely need. Carpenter had a down year in '19, but a strong Sept and his '18 was massive. Moose has tons of pop, also hits lefties well, has been to the playoffs a bunch. Neither would be players the Sox would be depending on, as they would be the super sub, so would be low risk acquisitions. The Sox need more versatility on their roster, like all the other contenders have, this would help. Nimmo RF Martinez/Castellanos DH Moncada 3b Abreu 1b Eloy LF Carpenter/Moose 2b* Anderson SS McCann C Leury CF* *Robert takes over CF April/May *Madrigal takes over 2b April/May *Carpenter/Moustakas move into super sub role Pitching: Sign Strasburg/Madbum, or Cole if that is even possible. Lineup instantly improves its OBP, lefty/righty balance, power, BA, versatility etc. while being solid defensively. Staff gets a much needed mainstay at the top. With a weak AL central, this would be the best team IMO. Last edited by ChiSoxNationPres; 10-07-2019 at 04:06 PM. |

Avi is just about the last player we need. He bats righthanded, is slow, doesn’t walk and hits too few home runs. He also has a track record of being horse**** in a Sox uniform, except for one fluke season.
Hard pass. |

Tsutsugo would be an interesting acquisition to fill our corner outfield void. At 27, he's in his prime. And he's a lefty. |

Wheeler’s upside is something I want us to roll the dice on. I hope it’s not for $20m per, but I wouldn’t be upset at all with us being the highest bidder for him.

Wheeler isn't quite high end, but has upside. He's certainly a good backup plan if we can't land a top end pitcher. |
