This will sway the big free agents this offseason.

Steve Stone called it on Sanchez during a broadcast. He said he was playing Gold Glove caliber defense.
It seems that the GG has also been based on offense, which is where Sanchez has been spotty. A player like Altuve will slaughter Sanchez in the voting because of his offensive output which is way above Yolmer. I do like Yolmer, though. Not meant as a slam at all. |

I'm happy for them but a bit surprised on Yolmer. I know Yolmer has been an excellent defensive player but if you recall, he had a real rocky start. The 40F temps probably didn't help. None the less, good job by both guys.

I'm betting you're right, which is a damn shame, because the Gold Glove is supposed to be strictly about defense, and generally it's not. Yolmer is so far ahead of Altuve in defensive measures that it's not even close. Fielding percentage, range factor, double plays, assists. Not even close.

The Sox should work out a deal with Yolmer. I know he could be non-tendered, but his defense has value. He can play second, third, short stop. Switch hitter, good bunter, great in the clubhouse.

I agree, he's worth having around for the defensive abilities he's shown.

I agree that Sanchez will not get the GG because it tends to go to a guy who also hits well, but what do we think of Giolito's chances?

Giolito didn't hit that well either.

1/4 with 2 RBI. At least he was productive with his single hit...

Ha, I get a lot of laughs on a Nationals forum for pointing this out whenever DC fans are upset about Eaton not hitting in a clutch situation.

The Athletic has an article on who should win and they picked Sanchez.

Some journalism merits it. The Athletic's certainly does.

It's absolutely worth the price of a subscription. There is no other outlet that can provide the in-depth coverage The Athletic does. I really hope it sticks around awhile.
