I didn't see this portion of this thread until today.

I was AMAZED to see that Kaplan would not be joining his beloved in their new endeavor.

I would have thought he was a lead pipe cinch to jump ship.

If this guy was talking about a nuke going off someplace he'd manage to work the Cubs into the story.

He must not think the thing is going to work long term.

Still no deal between Cubs/Marquee and Xfinity:

https://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...mve-story.html

As a Comcast customer, I hope they stick to their guns and don't agree to stick EVERY cable TV customer with a $6-7 surcharge for Marquee. I also hope all non-Cubs fans customers are contacting them to let them know this.

It says it will air every ST game, has that ever happened before

They should just air classic games as filler. Wouldn't mind seeing Caray or Brickhouse era games

They won't say what other local sports they will air. Irresponsible of them.

I was a doubter, but maybe, just maybe we can win with pitching, defense and fundamentals.

They probably don't have any other deals with local teams right now.

Do they have rights to them? Or do the rights belong to WGN and the various incarnations of the Chicago sports network?

Yeah, I'm also a Comcast / Xfinity customer and would rather not be forced to pay for a channel I would NEVER watch for one second.

I already pay for dreck I never watch, this would be another one.

Because it's a Cubs channel. It's going to be 24/7 Cubs content.

Will I be the first Sox fan to raise my hand and admit that Iím going to subscribe to this network (assuming itís not 15-20 bucks a month). A watch Cub games all summer cause I root against the Cubs and enjoy keeping tabs on the NL.

Just me?

If the Sox aren't playing- I might have a Cubs game on with the sound off while I'm doing other things- just because I love baseball and to your point, like to keep tabs on the NL.

But I will never pay an extra dollar for that service.

I always thought the team ultimately owned the rights to older games, I think I have seen the Yankees and Mets re-broadcast old games on their current station. God knows there are probably a ton of old games that WGN kept over the years (I donít know if they kept old Sox games as well).

Yeah, I don't know, that's why I asked. The television station paid for broadcast rights. I don't know if those rights are in perpetuity.

I have no problem if any Sox fans out there want to watch Cubs games. I just don't want to be forced, as a Comcast customer, to pay $5 a month specifically to a Cubs network I have no interest in watching or funding. It should be a la carte - any customer is welcome to opt in to pay for the channel, even if they're a Sox fan.

Yes, just you. If my Xfinity bill is going to go up because of that channel then I will finally cut the cord. I am not giving that organization a dime of my money.
