Was Wilber Wood the baseball card of the week before this news came out?

Because Pods couldn't play CF when he was healthy 4 years ago. He's a bad LF and would be amongst the worst defensive CFs in the game. Why would anyone want him over JO?

Where were you in 07?

Did anyone say in this thread that he plays good defense?

He actually hit well in 07. But again - that's not the point. Scott Podsednik was signed to take Owens spot in AAA, not to play major league baseball.

I saw Rickey Henderson have success with my own eyes. I'm not interested in him in Chicago or Charlotte. He's done.

Pods is not doing "bench duty". He is going to Charlotte. But by the way, if you are so focused on Pods resume, how does that logic apply to Kroger. I have seen Owens have much more success at the MLB level, and even more recently than Pods, than Kroger.

That's true...predictions are usually not worth the bandwidth they take up. It's all wild ass guessing.

(almost) Nobody is happy to see JO here. (almost) Nobody was happy to see Wise playing every day. I can't say the same about BA - it seems that this is a difference maker to some. I don't get that...but that's WSI for ya.

We chew every last ounce of fat off of the Owens/Wise/BA CF bone, and at the end of the day, we were arguing over what will amount to amost nothing over the course of a full season. 3 pieces of crap...and just for fun, lets add in Pods to make it 4.

EDIT: But to play fun games with sample size...Pods is a career .286/.375/.551 hitter in the post season. Maybe he is EXACTLY what we need?

I'm going to wait to see what Anderson does the next two-three weeks before overreacting like the rest of you.

If he does well, no need for all this drama. If he doesn't, then get someone else in there.

And honestly I'm totally sick of defending Owens and now again Pods to you guys who are either too biased in favor of one specific player or seemingly want all sluggers on the team to appreciate what they bring to the table.

Well, anybody from this board who has met me before knows how I feel about this move!!!! I'm selfishly hoping he's called up to the big club before I get to Tampa on Friday to see two games of the series.

Welcome back Scott. Amazed that there is hatred for Pods?

On WSI?

Amazing.

But he might be a bench player, he might be backup for when Owens gets hurt. (Yeah, I said it.)

Agreed. Who knows maybe he'll show he's healthy in the minors and get called up. No matter what happens I can't see him being a starter. The man simply can't play CF.

Even still I'm a little bit excited he's back.

This smells like a Gary Redus or Tim Raines move to me - base running coach.

Joe Borchard should be available...

Just joking. Nice to see Pods back. Hopefully he can bring something to the team. I have my doubts but it doesn't mean I will not root for him.

#1 beneficiary of this CF soap opera: Carl Skanberg.

I'm very excited about this. I know he's getting older, but he knows the organization and the ballpark. As long as he stays healthy, it'll be great. It gives us another option out in CF. Hey, we can dream!

Don't start this ****. There is no "hatred" for Pods. Saying that he is done and wondering why the club would even bother acquiring him is NOT "hate."

Scott Podesdnik- great guy, provided great White Sox memories.

But, he's of no more use to the Sox now than Wise or Owens.

Please just let Brian Anderson play baseball.

If we need to add someone that could possibly play CF then there is a guy named Jim Edmonds out there that is a whole world better than any of these mopes.
