Default When will you start worrying about Yoan Moncada?

Did not hit well in the majors last year. Is not hitting well in spring training this year.

When is he officially on bust watch?

He is a bust. He had a two hit performance without any homeruns yesterday. It is obvious, through five games in spring as well as a major league performance where he hit .300 plus in the last month of the season, that he is a bust.

Honestly, it has been a rough ride for him over his two months of baseball, and he should look to a career in coaching. Very sad what happens when you perform poorly for a month, and then five games in spring training.

You become a bust. Definitely 100 percent super bust.

Greatest Arsenal goal I have ever witnessed. Chills to this day watching it.

He managed a 102 OPS+ last year.

Black Panther was not even nominated for an Oscar. The movie was a HUGE bust.

The real question we should be asking is why Moncada hasn't won the MVP yet? BUST WATCH.

I don't think it is eligible until the 2019 awards. I thought the cutoff was released by Jan 1 or something like that.

Did you just think "Hmm, what topic could I troll on today?" and land on this one?

No - I think I've been plenty positive about many things
  • I'm a long-term Rodon optimist. I have taken the position in many threads that Rodon's current injury status is of little macrohistorical concern, he does not need to have a good MLB season until 2020 and 2021
  • I am similarly a Burger optimist - I think he can come back from his terrible recent injury, but have not yet voiced this opinion on WSI
  • I have doubts about Luis Robert, almost entirely to do with his injury history, but have kept quiet about them.
  • I have been at the forefront of telling people to stop complaining about Tatis, he's gone.
  • I even recently expressed optimism about Yolmer Sanchez and compared him to Juan Uribe, which is high praise from me. Even at my most negative and cynical, I always said good things about Juan Uribe. He was "my boy", exempt from the pessimism and doubt I had for the rest of the Sox.

However, Yoan Moncada is a top-rated prospect we received by trading away possibly the best player to ever put on a White Sox uniform, certainly the best pitcher to wear a White Sox uniform in my lifetime. He is a centerpiece of this rebuild. And he has so far not impressed me. I was wondering what other thoughtful Sox fans were thinking, and when they would join me in worrying.

They were thinking, "Well, 2018 will be another rebuilding year where winning is not the most important thing, so let's see how things start playing out and just try to enjoy the look at new players and development and maybe not worry about particular players in spring training because we don't need to."

So maybe they'll join you next year.

I'll take the bait here because honestly I remember expressing worry about him in the postgame threads last year. And it was exactly as you put it a byproduct of my emotional reaction to him being "the guy" of the Sale trade. I expected that level of talent in return and right away. The way he finished the season has made me very optimistic and while there's nothing to measure it he seems...different than some failed prospects of old. The talent in him is obvious. Hopefully it comes to the forefront when this all falls into place next year or the year after.

I predict the story of Moncada starting to hit when Abreu suggested he use his bats will go down in White Sox lore. Sit back and enjoy watching all the kids over the next few years. Some will surely be busts, but I don't think Yo-Yo will be one of them.
