Default *Official* 7/30/19 Among the Year's Most Interesting Games Postgamer

Can't believe there's no game thread. Lopez struggling but succeeding, in general. Sanchez and Engel! with professional at bats against a guy throwing 3 digits. Engel may have peeked around the corner, if not turned it. And even the at bat by Abreu in the 8th which had dismal results had him laying off some good bait pitches with two strikes was better than his other recent failures. Kinda makes you think that RBI is an overrated stat. For a main man, Jose has to pick it up regardless. Damn game was on the bases.

What to say about all the squeeze bunting attempts? Considering who RR had doing them, the odds of any of these bozos hitting a 250 foot fly ball may justify the bunting. I dunno.

Pitchingwise, we have some good bullpen guys, but once you get past them to "Tier 2" the game changes and Osich proved it. Stoney should stop drilling his message about using Colome in a non-save situation, since he's just been in 2-2 and 5-1 games and done fine. He's getting on Jason's nerves with it, if I read it right. Jason may need a lesson on what constitues an unearned run because he thought Leury's error led to one. It didn't. Stoney was no help there either.

A final word on the Mets bullpen. Bunch of flamethrowing clones.

Around the Fifth Inning, I asked my friend if we could make a quick trade for Thor so he would stop facing us and maybe suit up for us for the top of the next inning...Ö..

Everybody who knew Abreu would hit into that DP in the 8th inning, please raise your hand. I absolutely knew that would happen. The manís been killing us since the All Star break. Hell, he hit into one in the All Star game.

If he comes back next year, he absolutely canít hit #3. In the #3 spot in the lineup, we rank 17th in average, tied for last in OBP, and 16th in slugging. Meanwhile, on the bad side of the list, weíre tied for 3rd in most GIDP.

Brutal at bat in the 9th by Eloy. Diaz is wild, can't find the strike zone, and walked Goins on 5 pitches, and he comes up swinging away at 2 straight pitches that were a mile inside to immediately fall into a 0-2 hole. Just awful.

Lopez wasn't great (about 100 pitches after 5 innings), but wasn't terrible either.

Eloy is still getting his timing back after the layoff. Maybe should have done a rehab start or two, but it is what it is now.

Sox played a good game; didn't hit much but were facing one of the best pitchers in baseball.
The Sox pitched fine...Lopez and the 4 good relievers.
But that's where it ends and where the game ended....they bring in an organizational minor leaguer, and then a 2nd, and the game is over. 4 Deep pen. And it's a good 4. But zero after that and it cost this game.
