NBC Sports Chicago is also airing a Harold Baines special after the game on Friday. For DVR purposes, the timing of it may be tricky because who know if the game will go past its scheduled 3 hours.

Harold is a man I respect a great deal. He is due for a pullout shrine in my office. He is not a comfortable public speaker. His was a very well written speech, very quotable. It might have seemed fresher if Carlton Fisk hadn't told the "evidently" story in the taped introduction. And while it was delivered sincerely and sort of shows why he seems so forgotten for his accomplishments and why some Sox fans don't even give him the respect he deserves.

I know Harold wanted the Hall of Fame recognition. And, like Harold, I know he deserved it. He never pleaded his case or lobbied for because he didn't believe it was right. In the end, he was deeply humbled that his deeds held more value than his words, or lack thereof.

I never thought he'd get in. He was my favorite player in the 80's and if not for those botched (my biased opinion) knee surgeries he'd be a HoF'er w/o question. I always loved to see him play.

Other than Big Frank, Harold would be the one I wanted at bat with a RISP.
Harold finally has received recognition for his accomplishments.
