That 3rd strike call on Eloy made a strong case for robot umps. Terrible!

Default NBC Chicago Sports Channel ratings

As I write this, it's 8:13 am in Michigan. NBC Sports Chicago is replaying yesterday's Sox game. Considering the known outcome, I would imagine their earlier in the morning infomercials had higher ratings. Just a random thought.

I hate to defend Covey, but he has been with the Sox when they're pretty lousy as a team.

That still doesn't explain the first inning Sunday, that's on him.

But it's not like he was some lone bright spot, though. He had a brief period of effectiveness early last year but he has a career 6.28 ERA in over 239 innings. He is just not a major league starter, and probably isn't even a major league reliever.

I think I might prefer to slot Reed into Covey's former slot in the rotation if the options range from recalling Dylan to recalling Fulmer to recalling Despaignes. Hell, I'd rather have blandman or Voodoo get a turn in the rotation. Service time issues for those those 2 be damned!

If the Royals want to dump salary and get younger, I would not mind seeing a trade for Danny Duffy.

There still pretty lousy as a team since they reverted to there old ways after the Allstar break. They need to cut ties with Covey and players like him! How Covey is still in the Major Leagues is a mystery. They need to go out and get 2 front line pitchers who can actually keep them in a game for over 1 inning. Giolito has been the one bright spot and hopefully Lopez and Cease will be better than what they have shown so far. They really need a number 1 who can take the pressure off the others!

Then I hope you like 1 inning of unknown, considering Reed is a 1B who is not stretched out to pitch.

Or more simply, fire Angel Hernandez. This is not the first time, he has screwed up. This guy is terrible.

Hernandez seems to have quite a few bad outings, IMO. He can go along with Cowboy Joe West, a pompous ump who should have retired a few years ago.

I can still throw my knuckleball. I don't know if I can throw it 60 feet, but I can throw it.
