The two RHPs acquired for Nate Jones are playing quite well...in the Arizona Fall League and the Dominican League.

Seeing how Jones is on the IL now and can't ever be counted on being healthy for a full season I'm surprised the Sox got anything for him.

Jones was decent when healthy, but it was time to move on. And yes, I'm also impressed with the haul the Sox got.

It's the Arizona League, rookie level, not the AFL.

Rangers also get 1 million international slot money.

This was about that international money.

Still, he was the longest tenured player on the White Sox (first game was in 2012). I think that makes Jose Abreu the longest tenured now?

In the middle of a rebuild and they're trading away international bonus money to get out from Nate Jones' contract. Lol, this front office and ownership group makes it too easy for us to make fun of it

Yeah, if theyíre resorting to such desperate measures as converting $1 million in bonus pool money just to save $1.25 million in cash on Nate Jonesís buyout, thatís a bad sign.

I don't care about trading Jones, but their refusal to spend their international money is annoying and probably yet another reason why this org. has struggled so much.

If the only thing the team does at the deadline is save themselves some money, it once again shows where this organization’s true prioritie$ lie. I’m so fed up with ownership.

Exactly, why on earth give uo $1M of international money. I would like to know who's idea this was (among Sox management) and why.

Yeah, couldn't that money have been spent on international talent instead of using it to unload what we owe Jones?

I'd be curious to hear a plausible explanation of why trading away bonus money instead of spending it on prospects makes sense talent-wise for this team.

I don't get it either unless it's somehow pre-cursor to a bigger deal, which even then I don't know how that would work.

I like this less and less.

Luis Robert says otherwise.

Just playing Devil's advocate here but what if the Sox scouting department thought Jarneski was a better prospect than what was left among unsigned international players? The $1mm or whatever they sent to the Rangers had to be spent this year. It doesn't 'roll-over' to '20.

No clue about either player but it doesn't look like Castro is close to a legit prospect. At least Jarneski has age on his side and was a 12th round pick just two years ago.

But I sort of agree that they'd have been better off using it on a lower-ranked, cheap, 16 year old lottery ticket from the DR than the two they got.
