Mike Morse headed back to Seattle
Former Nats prospect AJ Cole headed back to Washington (he was dealt to Oakland in Gio Gonzalez deal), along with minor leaguer Blake Treinen and PTBNL Oakland receives C John Jaso http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports...ecd_story.html

The A's DFA'd George Kottaras now that they have Jaso. He bats lefty and would make a decent platoon with Flowers.

I like the idea of a lefty hitting catcher to back up Flowers but Kottaras hit .212 last year with a .280 on base percentage. I think that I would take Gimenez over Kottaras right now.

I think this is a horrible trade for the Nationals (but their choice was to either trade Morse or make him a bench player), but posters on the Nationals forum I frequent are mostly high on Cole, despite his lackluster performance in the minors last season.

ESPN.com had his OBP at .351 ... which would be amazing for a .211 BA. 37 BBs. Baseball Reference has him at 8 BBs and your .281 OBP. I'm assuming ESPN is wrong. |

Baseball Reference has the same, it just breaks down his stats with each team below the 2012 combined totals. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...ottage01.shtml |

Nationals have had a very good winter. Filled their center field need and added to an already very good pitching staff. |
