I think the best you can hope for is to maximize your chances when you are in the "boom" of a "boom-and-bust" cycle. That definitely includes trading prospects for major leaguers, but only after you have graduated enough homegrown players to field a competitive team.
Good teams trade prospects and still win because they know how to identify, develop and then evaluate them. They replenish. But plenty of teams trade prospects and lose.

The Royals and the Pirates don't have good FOs, but after 20 yeas, ach finally they hit on enough young players to have winning teams.. but it wasn't sustainable with 3 in a row for each.
Teams like the Nats, Indians and Astros have strong Front Offices and they are 7, 6 and 4 winning seasons in a row and counting. We'll see if they can match the Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees and Cardinals in the club of rarely having a losing season.

I think you can consistently win if you have a top-flight front office and at least a mid-tier budget. No reason that the Sox can't have both. Right now, they have neither. Hopefully when the FO finally starts showing signs of life (whichever persons occupy it), so will the budget.

Here is Future Sox's preview of the 2019 Kannapolis season. There are a number of prospects on this team that may be worth following this year.

I don't see Jake Burger listed. Is he expect to return to Kannapolis when he returns to action around June 1?

Question for those with the First Pitch app to watch the minor league games (Iím assuming Iím not the only lunatic doing that?):
Right now everything diverts back to the last game played in September when I try to see a schedule for whatís watchable tonight.

Wondering if they havenít updated yet or is my app out of date?

I read on twitter the other day from a Scout who sees his arrival to MLB very quick, like Juan Soto.

If power develops this quickly, no doubt.

The Sox are in a much different position than what the Nats were in last season. I don't see him coming up this season at all.

Collins #2.

Also Mendick hit a 3 run shot. Should have made the team out of ST. Hopefully he gets very hot early and forces the end of Yolmer.

Nice looking start to the year for some key hitters.

Pitching . . . not much to look at. Anyone know why Henzman left before the end of the first inning?

Come on now. He opened eyes with his spring, but Cody Asche had a hot spring too, not long ago. Mendick needs a little more time against better competition.
