Default Upper Deck Seats

Anyone know if they are still imposing the ridiculous practice of trapping UD patrons to the UD still if you are not a STH.

Going to the game tonight and would like to know. I love the concourse and fan deck and usually sit in the lower bowl but we have school tix and they are UD

Cheers

They do enforce it.

Not always - if the anticipated attendance is low they don't really care. I was at the Giolito / Astros game and they weren't checking at all.

in recent years, they were only enforcing this policy if attendance was above a certain amount. On low-attendance days, they weren't checking.

I have no idea whether this is still the case or if they've gone back to enforcing the no LD entry for UD tickets every game.

Yes. When it’s a ghost town, the only sections they actively monitor are the club section, the suites, and the other high-priced sections.

Last I have heard was 20,000 or less and they don't check.

I haven't really tested this.

The one day I went this season that was over 20,000 I sat in the club section anyway. They always check tickets there.

Also it seems the club area has gone way downhill over the past years.

In what way? I haven't been up there in a few years.

Was my old season ticket level, gave it up once the customer service turned into the DMV.

I rather pay cheaper tickets for the same mediocre service.

I was at the Giolito / Astros debacle, and they weren't checking.

If the anticipated attendance is low enough, they've even been closing the upper deck and re-ticketing people with 100-level tickets. Happened to my brother and me in May when we went to the Giolito / Pirates disaster.

Note to self: stop going to Giolito starts.

I agree- the Club Level needs a renovation and an upgrade to their overall service level, including food and beverage- seems like they've ignored it for the last 4-5 years. Love the view of the game from that level.

Depends on attendance.

The Fire Marshall disputes your characterization that it is "ridiculous."

The fact that no other stadium - or at least very few - imposes such restrictions gives a little less credence to the Fire Marshall.

I was at a game earlier this year where they were not checking tickets, and then in the late innings, while the Sox were getting their asses kicked, they started ejecting people from the ballpark for sitting in the wrong seats.

Only the White Sox.

Just make sure you avoid the redcoats when you sneak into the lower bowl, and then don't go to the bathroom until after the game is over. They might demand to see your ticket on your way back.

The season ticket holders in the lower deck probably started complaining when the concourses and bathrooms started getting overcrowded by fans who had no business being down there in the first place. Games with 30K+ are a complete misery when the ticket policy is not enforced. There are not enough bathrooms, and there is not enough space to accommodate the long lines at the beer taps.

Lower deck season ticket holders pay a lot of money for those seats. They shouldn’t be forced to navigate through massive crowds that are artificially swollen by fans who pay $7 for a ticket and then decide they dislike the view or the concession options.

Agreed on all accounts.
