It looks like he wasn't pitching very efficiently.

Since his injury he hasn't looked like the same pitcher. So much for those who think a "forearm strain" isn't that big of a deal.

A tough night for Spencer Adams too.

I can't find anything that says if he's still injured or if it was because he was getting killed early, or both. This is frustrating.

I just heard from a source and this is UNCONFIRMED right now that Hansen was pulled last night because of "forearm issues."

Take it for what its worth until we know something more.

If it is, then they should just shut him down for the season and let it heal.

For the sake of argument, let’s imagine a two-to-four-week diagnosis. Would it really be worth rushing him back just to make about five more starts?

Assuming it does heal without surgery. Dunning appears to be in the same situation.

It just doesn't get any better on the injury front overall does it?

Looks like Hansen is fine. Just sucked with command once again.

Here's an article about Sox prospect Cory Zangari, who missed all of 2017 and the first half of this season due to Tommy John surgery.

Heard back from the person who said the information they were given was that Hansen will make his next start in Birmingham next week. No specific reason given for why he only lasted three innings last night. Don't know if he was medically checked out or not. Considering everything that's good news. The way this year has gone you assume the worst.

The same source as this one?

"Take it for what it's worth" Lip, please lose this source.

BTW, my post 45 min before yours, included a tweet from an actual source giving the all clear on Hansen.

Kopech with a very solid outing, and doing this with basically one pitch (the fastball). 6 IP, 1ER, 4H, 1BB, 11Ks. Struck out the side in 3 of the 6 innings.

But his off-speed stuff is still not there. Which speaks so highly about that fastball.

And he should not be promoted until it “is there.” And I mean both the slider and the changeup. If that means he repeats AAA in 2019, then so be it. Not breaking camp with the major league team in 2019 does not make Kopech a bust, nor is it automatically a setback. He still has a full slate of minor league options.

Not that it was the sole contributor to his struggles, but how did it work out for Carson Fulmer when he was promoted while his off-speed pitches were still “works in progress?”

BTW LoveYourSuit, I am not in any way suggesting that you believe those things or disbelieve them. I only quoted your post as a prompt for my own little rant.

I think at this point Kopech is much more advanced than Fulmer when he was promoted. Fulmer to this point can't even figure out his fastball.

But i agree, Kopech's offspeed stuff is way too inconsistent and is very likely to struggle at the big league level today. Now, the question is what does it matter if he struggles working on this with the big league team vs at AAA? Big league team results don't matter. Reason why we are putting up with the Giollito garbage. And is it better for him to be using those limited bullets a ML arm has on ML games or at AAA?
