So wait.....does this hurt the chances of the Cubs offering him the position?

Asking for a friend.

Larry Rothschild is out as Yankees pitching coach.

Maybe they can float an offer at Coop again?

If they read WSI they won't. It will change their opinion of him.

Cubs fans couldn't wait to run Larry off. How long did he last with the Yanks? It's the fate of all of us, eventually. Coop too. He ain't getting any younger.

I was expecting the Cubs to hire Girardi before they hired their version of Ventura last week.

Or potentially their version of Ventura, anyway. No experience of any kind at any level, handed a MLB manager's position.

Sounds exactly like the Sox hiring Ventura.

Yeah, but the people that Ross will be a yes-man to are much smarter than the people Ventura was a yes-man for.

Or Detroit hiring Brad Ausmus. Or St. Louis hiring Mike Matheny.

Yankees hiring Aaron Boone. Or the Brewers hiring Craig Counsell (one year as a special assistant to the GM). I'm a believer in paying your dues and getting experience, but it's undeniable that this isn't the only school of thought that has been successful.

Carlos Beltran will be the new manager for the Mets. Terry Collins will be his bench coach.

There's a fantastic clip of Terry Collins arguing with an umpire (NSFW - language): https://youtu.be/bn28Dz4RUxc

I wish we could get more mic'd up conversations like this.
