Santiago bent, but didn't break. Five hits, but no runs over two innings. That's all we can ask of him for this season: not perfect, but little to no damage.

Kopech with 3 Ks, 2 hits allowed and no runs or walks thru 2 innings. Not sure how long they are planning on letting him go today.

Jake Burger left the game on a cart from an apparent ankle injury. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

This isn't good. Burger apparently tore his Achilles tendon Can't imagine that he'll play until 2019. Wonder if this changes how the Sox view third base in the long run?

So I guess that erases any doubt about whether the Sox are going to be in the Machado sweepstakes next offseason! Yippe?

I might be more inclined to sign Moustakas now, as we need to add a full season to Burgería timeline. A 2-3 year deal might be about right.

They are dropping like ****ing flies again. Third straight year. I ask again...bad luck or is something else going on in the off season conditioning plan / training staff. Sure "luck" plays a part in it...but three straight years?

The Bears decided to do something about it to try to change that "luck"...maybe the Sox need to consider the same.

Yes, the Sox need to strongly consider Mike Moustakas now or Manny Machado/Josh Donaldson after next season. Machado seems determined to go to the Yankees, so that may not be realistic.

Moustakas at 29 now or Donaldson at 33 next year. What should they do?

I agree that given his age, Moustakas for two or three years might make sense.

Lip, this is a freak injury. Itís not a sign of Sox conditioning programs. It may be a commentary on Burgerís own stretching program, though.

Lip, the injury to Burger is a serious one. But Achilles' tears are something that are just going to happen. Don't think you can blame anyone for that.

Micker Adolfo has a partial elbow tear but apparently can DH in the minors. If he gets his at bats, the Sox can see if the elbow responds to rest. If it doesn't, I can see the Sox opting for surgery by mid-season.

Eloy Jimenez will miss a few days with soreness. That doesn't sound like a big deal.

Injuries are a part of the game. But the Sox keep their guys on the field better than most. And injuries are one reason for depth in a rebuild. Burger probably doesn't play until the 2019 spring training at the earliest. he has youth on his side and hopefully, he will retain all his power. We'll just have to see.

All these injuries are unbelievable. My feelings are that the Sox are just snakebite and damn unlucky, then again maybe there's a curse.

Well, that certainly sucks. I wonder if this impacts their draft at all. I know "best player available" and the fluidity of the draft board, but one of the guys currently projected to go as high as #5 is Nolan Gorman (3B). Then again, he's a prep, so that wouldn't help them next year anyway. They'll likely have to sign a FA to fill that hole which blows. I was hoping Berger would be on track to break camp with the team in '19.

Based on the type of injury, I don't think it's an indictment of their conditioning program. Just dumb/terrible luck. It's an awful injury to come back from in terms of time.
