And neither one of them has ever come even close to a 57 game hit streak. Why do you keep pounding on this? Your analogy was wrong, period. We're talking about Madrigal and whether he's progressing at AAA, not washed up hasbeens or destined to be utility players.

It's okay to stop arguing... it really is...

You know what else is OK? Not putting any stock whatsoever in hit streaks.

I think the point of pointing out that Madrigal at least has one hit per game is that it could be much worse. Any Sox fan should know that there are players who get zero hits per game when promoted to a new league.

Or simply that his performance so far in AAA does not indicate that he is "struggling mightily."

Taking walks, not striking out, making a bunch of contact and having some fall in. Sounds like a great start actually. The fact he's doing it consistently is even better.

Consistency is a valuable quality in a hitter.

Especially in a young player who has just been bumped to a higher level.

Not when itís consistently subpar...

8 games is way too small a sample to make any conclusion. His entire stay in AAA this year is still going to be too small a sample size to determine anything of value. I take that fact for granted, and that is why I didnít address it anywhere. In hindsight, I wish I said something along those lines in one of my previous posts.

My gripe is with using a hit streak or on-base streak to say that someone has been effective when he has not been effective.
