So they like his bat a little bit more, but the scouts are super sold on his power? I can dig it. Seems like his defensive grades are right where they were last year, too. Looks like someone's destined for LF.

Does anyone have Robert's 2017 grades on hand and how they compare to what he got for 2018? I don't expect a change--due to limited playing time in American ball--but just in case I'd like to know.

You can always look at the older lists by changing the year in the url

2017:
http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=of

2018:
http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=of

Same for all their subdivisions by team, position, etc. This works back to 2015. There is also a link on the right for "archive" that you can click to get other years top 100's and then navigate from there to positions or teams. The display and url style change from 2014 to 2015 so simply modifying the year in the url only works back to 2015. For 2014 and before you have to go to the archive.

Robert - 2017:
Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 55 | Run: 65 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 55

Robert - 2018:
Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 55 | Run: 65 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 55

I'm guessing that means they are waiting like we are to see what he can do state-side.

Jiminez - 2017:
Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 60 | Run: 45 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50 | Overall: 60

Jiminez - 2018
Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 70 | Run: 40 | Arm: 50 | Field: 45 | Overall: 65

They upgraded his hitting as appears to be a new standard for them but downgraded his defense and call him a "fringy leftfielder."

For the Sox that may be ok. If he moves to 1B then that opens up spots for both Adolfo and Rutherford in the OF assuming they continue to develop. Depth is good.

Great job with the formatting here to making the comparison so easily. I completely agree with their wait-and-see approach with Robert.

Could Jiminez eventually be a DH?

It seems like we have everyone heading there, no? Collins, Burger, Avi, Abreu.

I think we need Jiminez to sick in the OF.

Burger? By all accounts I've read he has the skills to stay at 3B.

Seems like there's a rush to move him based on not much more than his body type. He just looks like a DH. From everything I've read, while not a plus defender, he's adequate. He's still young enough to improve his lateral quickness with proper conditioning. I think he'll be okay...

I think Avi will eventually be traded. Collins will stick at catcher, Burger at third. Jose will eventually move to DH as he ages. I'm guessing they try Jiminez at first before relegating him to DH if this defensive evaluation is accurate. I saw him at the plate several times on MiLB.TV last year but only saw him handle a couple easy chances in RF last year. Not enough to get any impression at all. But he did make the catches and the only problem I saw was him hot-dogging one of them instead of making a fundamentally sound catch.

In my crystal ball, by 2021 I see:

LF: Eloy
CF: Robert
RF: One from among Rutherford, Adolfo, Basabe, Call, Gonzalez, Cordell, etc.

While not everyone will make it - there are more OFs who need to play at A ball level this year than there are OF/DH slots, and thereís only three AA and three AAA OF slots each in 2019 and 2020 - I think we have enough depth that we can pencil in a completely homegrown, productive OF, by 2021.

Abreu and Avi will be gone by the time Jimenez moves from left field. Heck, they might be gone by July.

Sox with 7 in the MLB Pipeline top 100, if I counted right...Rutherford, Dunning, Cease, Hansen, Robert, Kopech, Jimenez.

Did I miss Collins?

I have no doubt in my mind that Hansen will be a top 20 come the mid season, and I fully expect Cease, Dunning, and Rutherford to make it top 60. Dunning is a bit of a shock. I am glad people are becoming aware of him. We have four pitchers who can slot in at a 1/2 slot. Dunning has 4 worst case 2 best case, and thatís saying something for a throw away in the Eaton trade.

I think we will see two of Sheets, Burger, or Collins on this list by this year or next year.

Is there any player in the Sox organization whose stock has absolutely soared more than Alec Hansenís over the last year and a half?

Dane Dunning has soared up a lot of charts, too.
