He's still coming off an injury and has only played in six games since he came off the DL in mid-July. Plus, he hasn't had 100 at-bats in AAA, so I don't know if he has faced pitchers more than one time yet. So there's no harm in keeping him down there for now, but I suspect he gets called up in August.

No need to rush him, the Sox down through the years have been notorious for rushing prospects to the Majors.

He's raking down there though. He hasn't had a problem at any level and it's pretty clear his bat would play in the bigs right now.

There's 9 days before the deadline. I'm assuming the hope is that Avi shows enough to get dealt, and Eloy will get called up in a corresponding move.

I'd love to see him stay down there for a while if for no other reason than this: if the worst should happen and - God forbid - he gets brought up the majors and is a bust (like SO many White Sox prospects before him), we won't have to listen to people saying, "Well, the Sox did it again - rushed a prospect, and he flops."

He'll be up as soon as they move Avi.
Of course I expect from Eloy about what we've seen from Avi for the last year. It's all a big circle.

Honest question: would you keep Avi?

Iím beginning to think that keeping Avi (and Abreu) could help make the Sox offense at least interesting in 2019, as such:

Avi, Eloy, Abreu, Anderson, Moncada, Yolmer
CF: best among Tilson, Cordell, Engel, or a short-term FA
DH: best among Delmonico, Palka, Davidson, or a short-term FA
C: best two among Castillo, Narvaez, Smith

But though FRATER laughed openly, he wept secretly; and really he neither laughed nor wept. Nor did he mean what he said.

I'd keep Avi, for several reasons. First, I don't think he'd bring a grade 1 prospect in a trade, and second, if he really has turned the corner and figured it out, he would be a very valuable cog in the lineup and provide a veteran presence and influence.

The second reason alone is enough to just gamble that his best days are ahead of him and keep him. If he isn't real, the Sox have enough outfield prospects to absorb the blow.

Covey has to be sent out every 5th day this year. Hes had dominate performances and stinkers. One never knows how it will play out.

You keep Avi through the remainder of the 2018 season, hope he continues to rake and move him in the Winter. Zero reason to tie up payroll in Avi. The Sox are absolutely loaded in OF prospects. It should be really easy to fill out a future OF.

Keeping Eloy down is a service time move, right? If so, extend that clock as much as possible, please, Sox. If that's September, great.

There is no payroll if abreu is dealt and A. Garcia will be cheaper to sign than abreu. Give me a choice who the Sox should keep abreu and Garcia, I pick Garcia.

I generally agree, as long as Avi is either playing LF or DH. He and Eloy can rotate there next year if they keep him. They have so many good to great OF prospects though, I can't see either Avi or Abreu sticking around past next season.
Eloy
Robert
Rutherford
Basabe
Adolfo
Gonzalez
Walker
Just to name a few.

This Sox team is going nowhere. What is the mad rush to bring this guy up before his time? How often have the Sox pushed someone up too soon and it flopped? Wait until September and let's see what he can do. I realize it's been a trying season and patience can wear thin. Please don't force the issue on players like Jimenez, Robert, Kopech, Danning and the rest of the prospects before their time. History has proven this can be counter productive.

Yeah, and I don't buy the argument that Abreu is great for the clubhouse or is a big influence on the younger players. How much worse could they possibly be without him?

And if Abreu is acting as a wet nurse for Moncada, it's time to end that and let Moncada grow up.
