At $6.2 million, the defense alone pays for itself.

Maybe defensive metrics have their place.

Congrats to Yolmer!

I'm real glad the voters didn't factor in offensive capabilities -- like they often do -- when making the choice for gold glove 2B in the AL.

Yep, this makes me extremely happy. I fully expected it to go to Altuve based on his being a much better hitter, even though his defensive numbers aren't even close to Yolmer's.

Gold Gloves are selected by managers and coaches, and sometimes I'm not sure how seriously they take it. Altuve only played three games at second against the White Sox, so if a White Sox coach voted for him, it would have been on reputation. It seems that for a player who is not a strong offensive player to win, he has to have made quite an impression on the league to win a Gold Glove.

Congrats to Yolmer, great for him but I'm flabbergasted that a member of the White Sox would be awarded a Gold Glove based on what we have seen for years, glad to see that the people who voted on this have a very good knowledge of the game. The bad news is that Sanchez will probably will lose his job a a starter, my guess is that he will opt out for free agency. Too bad he's not that good with the bat.

2019 was a great year for some of our guys with individual accomplishments with TA winning the Batting Championship, Abreu leading the AL in RBI, Yoan and Giolito having very good years and Yolmer with the Gold Glove. 2020 is the year that the front office has to step up and sign premier free agents to complete the rebuild and become a contending franchise for years to come.

Congratulations to Yolmer!

I'm glad an excellent defensive player won on the merits of his defense.

I'm also glad to be wrong in thinking it wouldn't go that way.

Steve Stone called this one, a couple of months ago.

When told of the news Yolmer was last seen streaking toward home plate with a bucket of Gatorade!
