Fascinating and complex, detailed lead story on this kid in Sports Illustrated a few weeks ago. Highly suggest reading it.

Kid says he didn't do it and only pled guilty so that he wouldn't have to go through a prolonged trial and cause more harm to his family. Also was told in three years if he behaved well his record would be expunged.

A few weeks before this was supposed to happen a mistake in the Oregon data system allowed a reporter to discover what had transpired.

I don't know if the kid did it or not, the story explains both sides of the question fully.

Trying to remember but I think the story also said the kid passed a lie detector test.

This seems to be a situation where the court of public opinion is the main factor in what has transpired since. That's not necessarily a good thing but that's the way things are today.

He's not too good fundamentally that's all I am saying.

This is really tough. You would REALLY have to believe him to take a chance on him.

Once Nick Madrigal and Steele Walker sign, where do people think they'll be ranked among Sox prospects? Is it a given that Madrigal will be in the Sox top 10? Top 5? Would Walker be among the top 30?

I believe Hahn has already said that Madrigal will be playing at Winston Salem this year.

We are at 500. If someone really wants to start a new 2018 draft thread they can but I would think these discussions could be moved to the general minor league thread since they are all Sox minor league players now.

Hitman, feel free to copy and paste your post there as you prefer.
