Read the article. It is a big "so what?" His job is to be Pitching Coach, not goodwill ambassador for the team.

Yeah, the “surly turd” routine from him is really getting old. Again, we don’t owe this team a damn thing, so it would behoove them to stop comporting themselves like we do owe them something.

Maybe the fans could do better.
But so could he; his results over the last decade are sorry overall, and he refuses to use analytics and high-tech.

I doubt analytics and high tech are his problems.

I actually read that Cooper and other pitching coaches/instructors in the Sox system were starting to use advanced analytics (spin rate, etc.) this year.

But though FRATER laughed openly, he wept secretly; and really he neither laughed nor wept. Nor did he mean what he said.

At some point this organization is going to have to accept that it's operating in the 21st century. This isn't the 80s or earlier where fans got their snippet from the beat writer every day. Social media isn't going to disappear, nor should it, because Cooper is a cranky old man

Social media is great: it reveals the inner self.

How do you know this? I've seen him looking at an iPad during games this year.

I agree that it's not new but I still don't have to like it. And I don't. Never have. The fans should not be criticized for having their opinions or for not showing up to the park, which he's also done, multiple times. Saying something like you have to do your job and you can't do your job by listening to the fans, reading social media all day etc. is fair enough. Cooper has been much more dismissive, scornful, disrespectful than that. It's unnecessary and obnoxious.

Of course that's just my opinion, so Sox management can ignore it.
