I have zero interest in Adell. Guys that have contact issues don't belong in the first round in my opinion.

I would be ecstatic with either Pavin Smith or Adam Haseley. Need more bats that can work counts, handle pitchers with good stuff, and can barrel up balls consistently.

This draft is an example of why we don't want to win a bunch of meaningless games. Pavin Smith would be a great grab in this draft, and we won't have a shot at him because we just had to win 78 games.

This is my buddy Chris, he did ESPN's draft coverage for years and was with BP for a while as well. Interesting takes, thinks Smith is likely to fall as a 1b.

I'm also very much opposed at the idea of Adell as well, doesn't seem like the right choice at #11.

I am very much focused on Smith, Haseley and Jake Burger right now. I really want to see the Sox take another advanced college bat like they did with Collins last year. Haseley is starting to get helium as the next Benintendi and I know that Rick really liked Benintendi.

I don't think that the draft sites understand that the Sox have changed their draft philosophy under Hostetler. I keep reading about "toolsy" outfielders and college pitchers as their likely first pick because that's what the White Sox do.

They haven't picked a "toolsy" outfielder in the first round since Hawkins in 2012. The last low ceiling, safe, college pitcher they picked was Poreda in 2007.

People are just being lazy. There's been a clear shift, but it's easier to continue using the same narrative.

While I don't root for the Sox to lose, in hindsight it's too bad the Red Sox got that #7 pick ahead of us in that draft. The Sox almost certainly would be picked Benintendi if we finished worse than Boston in 2014.

Agreed, I've read multiple articles that said that Hostetler/Hahn loved Benintendi and would have picked him if available. I think the Sox did fine for themselves with Fulmer, but this is an organization with a dearth of position prospects. He would have looked great in CF this season.

I agree. While the losing trifecta of Broadway, McCulloch and Poreda still stings a bit, it was 10 years ago.

Sickels has a nice write up on Haseley:

Would love for the Sox to get him, but his rising stock is starting to propel him out of their reach.

As more and more articles are written, I'm seeing the same thing. The White Sox always draft "toolsy" outfielders and college pitchers. So lazy.

So who's the best college bat on the board that the White Sox have a shot to draft? Smith?

He's been rising quickly with his stellar season, so I think he's going to be out of range by the time the Sox come up to pick. Adam Haseley is shooting up draft boards and rightfully so, he's been great too. I think the Sox might get a chance to snag him, but we'll see.

The player I don't want to see is Jeren Kendall. Way too much swing and miss and inconsistency in his play. He'll probably be gone by the time the Sox draft anyway.

Just draft as many positional players / hitters as you can get your hands on. That is by far the Sox biggest need.
