Sox have thus far been doing a great job going under slot on most guys, should free up money for Skoug and others.

I would think that Skoug would be the hardest to sign of them all. Will be interesting to see what he does when TCU is done.

McClure's runs came on two 2-R HRs.

Yep, otherwise he looked pretty good. Had a little trouble spotting his offspeed pitches, but he's definitely an arm that the Sox could turn into a back-end starter or reliever. The velocity was not there, or at least not as much as I would have hoped.

Your wish was granted, the Sox signed him for about $500K under slot.

as it should have because Burger was not the 11th best player in the draft. but then Hahn pays a big over slot pay for the second round pick who wasn't in anybody's top 50.
Don't really care as long as they sign all their top 15. Savings on the burger reach would've been nice to put to the TCU guy who appears to be a tough sign.

I wouldn't really worry if Sheets was not in like, Keith Law's top 50. Its fun to read that stuff, but realize those guys see these kids maybe once, MAYBE twice live. The rely entirely on what they are told. He also was in most of the top 70's, so he was not some monumental reach.

Not saying he is a lock of anything, but the Sox have done well drafting since Hahn took over, so if his scouts are saying Sheets was worth pick 49, and you have to overpay to keep him from returning to school, I am fine with it.

Sox have announced that they have signed 31 of their draft picks. The only remaining unsigned picks are Lincoln Henzman, Kade McClure, Evan Skoug, and Logan Taylor, who are still playing in the college world series and high school players Riley Crean, Alex Widmer, Dylan Horvitz, Chance King, and Angelo Smith.

As I understand it Burger was not a reach at all. After the first couple players several articles stated that the next 40-100 players (depending on who you read) were basically an even match. Point being that if Burger was 16 on a list rather than 11 there really was no difference. Signing him under slot is nice though.

So the Sox have signed 31 of 40 picks. Four of the unsigned are higher picks (4,6,7, & 16) and still playing. The remaining five are high schoolers at the very bottom of the draft (35, 36, 38, 39, & 40) and presumably will not sign. Good job by the team. Flush with new talent in the lower reaches of the minor league system.

Honestly, signing your players is not as much of a big deal as it used to be. Most teams sign 30+ players each year. The Sox need to stop acting like it's the 70s and 80s when there were more kids that would not sign.

How are the Sox "acting"?

I agree. I am disappointed with the distinct aversion to Prepsters. I hope they went with a bunch of guys who they think they can develop quickly enough for trade value to coincide with our planned run at it. Guys who can cruise through the lower levels have organizational value, but I really want to start seeing some chances taken on at least young arm talent.

Making it sound like signing all your picks is some sort of feat. It's pretty commonplace nowadays. They aren't puffing out their chests nearly as much as they have in the past admittedly.
