It sucks that an All-Star appearance and ROY season have been derailed. Oh well. If he helps the Angels make the playoffs, that's really all that matters.

He's really already at All-Star and ROY level? Don't get me wrong a two way player is is a novel concept this day and age but it's not like he's been amazing at either. He looked great on the mound his first two starts vs. Oakland but then his next few against decent opponents (Boston, Houston, Seattle) his ERA went up almost two runs. Then his last few starts against pretty crappy opposition (Tampa, KC, Detroit) he's gotten his ERA back down around 3-something again. Good but hardly All-Star level.

Hitting? .289 with 20 RBIs. Most of that from a pretty hot April but he's cooled off. Again, good, but there's tons of guys out there with those numbers.

Him getting hurt, possibly seriously, was always more of a "when" rather than "if", given it was known he already had injury issues and much less playing time (only 25-30 IP all last year) prior to him coming to the US. Was going to be a challenge to hold up through a whole MLB season.

A lot of hype coming in. With the questions of who is more valuable Trout or Ohtani you know it's gone over the top.

I hope he gets healthy soon but the hype has been over the top.

Used to in high school. Blew my arm out sophomore year. Never pitched again.

Greatest Arsenal goal I have ever witnessed. Chills to this day watching it.

Indeed. The power splitter these guys are throwing is an absurd amount stress put on an elbow.

This whole TJ epidemic is pretty simple, guys just want to keep pushing and pushing it when it comes to velocity and power pitches. Everyone wants every pitch to move. Physics just doesn't work that way.

Yeah, these pitchers are really stuck between a rock and a hard place. They have two unpleasant options: either defy physics, or never make it out of the minors.

Rumor is he’s going to need TJ and will be out until 2020.

Saw that story today on CBS Sportsline that he's probably going to need it. Also saw a story where Trout said he wasn't sure if he'd resign with the Angels.

God, that really sucks after all that hype and a nice start. Hope he comes back from this stronger than before.

Considering his talent with the bat, could he return as a DH before he can take to the mound?
