TBS showed a graphic where Dusty has had three teams that are a win away from advancing to the next round of the playoffs and they have all choked. Looks like this year's team will be no different. Of course losing Cueto hurt a lot but so did that attempted double steal back in the sixth.

What was the last playoff series to feature zero wins by the home team?

Wow, that's a good question. I know in the 1987 World Series no team on the road won a game. I wonder if that has never happened.

Reds cut the lead to 6-4 1 out in the ninth and 2 men on base now
EDIT: Giants hang on and move on to the NLCS |

Damn. I was hoping the Reds would win the whole thing this year. What is the deal with Baker's clubs and their inability to finish teams off? Any guy that manages for a long time and gets in the playoffs a lot will probably have it happen sooner or later but he doesn't have a World Series ring (as a manager) that would help him refute the "choker" label that's sure to begin to float around out there.

Third time in Dusty's career he's had at least 2 chances to close out a series and ended up losing.
That's post-1990 Piniella-level of postseason suckage. Last edited by amsteel; 10-11-2012 at 05:09 PM. |

Jayson Werth with an all-world at bat before driving it out for the win

Werth hits a walkoff for the Nats! On to game 5. I've seen enough of the Cardinals this postseason.

Another walk off and another Game 5! Nationals win 2-1.

Another walk-off and another Game 5. Hope the Nats can pull this off, as I am getting tired of seeing the Cards barely make it to the postseason, then knock off better teams.

Two great American League games last night, followed by two great National League games this afternoon.
Days like yesterday and today are why baseball is my favorite sport. Awesome stuff.
