Yep, he negotiated the first CBA and then completely earned the vitriol and hatred of the owners by getting the reserve clause ****canned a few years later to bring in modern free agency.
RIP to someone who may have been the most important figure in the game in the past 50 years.

His book "A Whole Different Ballgame" is a must read.
He belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Maybe he will get due recognition now.
