Per mlbtraderumors.com.
Didn't see it posted yet. Sorry if I missed it. Glad to see him not only out of our division, but out of the AL altogether. |

Career #s of Span vs. the White Sox:
(61 games) .324avg .391obp .439slg 79hits 14doubles 4triples 23rbis 37runs Pretty solid numbers against us. Frankly, it seemed a lot worse because he always seemed to get the big hit late in the game that killed us. I'm glad he is out of our division and the AL. Solid pickup for the Nats.

Normally the Twins don't trade for these kind of pitchers, but Meyer is a potential ace. This could work for both sides.

As a White Sox and Nationals fan, I am extremely happy this evening.

So was Boof Bonser, who was back in the Giants system last year, without the burden of potential. But when the Twins traded for Bonser, they picked up a couple of other pitchers in the deal.

Picking up Span gives the Nats the CF/leadoff hitter they were seeking, without paying out a huge contract that could easily backfire if they had went after Upton or Bourn.

I find it hard to believe the Nats gave up a future Ace for Denard Span, but I don't know anything about this prospect. Anyone got some Intel on him?

Wish they could've got someone that would help sooner in AA/AAA but still looks like a decent trade. Span has regressed these last 2yrs, and not to mention he has some health concerns (back/concussions).

Then get another starter and a bullpen arm or two and they should be very good again next season. |
