Default White Sox World Series ring on eBay

Only $24,999 or best offer.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-Chicago...09177e&afsrc=1

They don't reveal who's it is, but, says "original recipient who was a multi time world series participant as a player, Legend of the game."

Any guesses?

Of the 05 Sox, the only players to appear in more than one World Series were El Duque and Aaron Rowand. My guess is Hernandez as well.

Could it be someone who wasn't a player on the 05 team, but was a coach or other organizational employee in 2005 who also was a former player who played in multiple World Series?

The guy selling it selling a few rings. Where the heck do they get them? Nonetheless, my guess is also Hernandez.

One went up on eBay a few years ago and sold for like $15k, right?

One day I'll buy one of these rings. That day is not today.

It looks like there are several diamonds missing both in the Sox logo and around the top of the ring, so it must've been worn on a pretty regular basis....

That makes sense. He is a legend of the game, appeared in multiple WS, and was a staff member of the Sox in 2005. Whoever inherited the ring must have decided to sell it.

Or it's from an estate sale. Wouldn't be surprised given the timing.

The collector's value of the ring is tied to who received the ring. If it has a player or even a prominent coach's name on it, it is worth more. If it is an organizational ring it is worth less. If it's an organizational ring, it probably doesn't have a name on it.

I don't know that Moose Skowron kept all five of his World Series rings from his days as a player with the Yankees. But a White Sox World Series ring adds nothing to his legacy, although he would have worn it at post-2005 White Sox functions.

If you're interested in bidding, you should demand to know from the seller though personal communcation who the ring belonged to because it is such a serious consideration. A reputable seller will share that information with you, even if the public listing doesn't have an illustration of the side of the ring where the name is supposed to be.
