Former top prospect of Boston, could contribute some lefty power off the bench if he comes around. Feel free to move this to the Minor League forum if appropriate. Coop'll fix him ![]() |

Saw this guy play in Columbus last year. . . if this was the effort to get a lefthanded bat, Dan Johnson would have been a better option. Anderson is still young and was a "prospect" for Boston a couple of years ago but Cleveland who had no first baseman let him go for next to nothing, so I don't see any good coming out of this. |

Hope he can impress enough that we have a viable replacement for Paulie waiting in the wings, but I won't hold my breath.

When I saw that he was released I was going to make a thread advocating the Sox pick him up but I doubted whether it was thread-worthy.
I like the idea of having a potential replacement for Konerko who has had problems with his wrist. Especially a lefthanded bat. Anderson was at once a highly touted prospect. Baseball America ranked him in the Top 100 three years straight. 2008: #40 2009: #17 2010: #87 At worst, he is Dan Johnson with a little more potential and a little less of an immediate chance for production. |

Yep. Somebody needs to play first base in the late innings during Spring Training. Have the Sox ever had a player named Lars before?

If Baseball Reference is correct, no. At the very least, Anderson is the only Lars ever to reach the big leagues.

I think we should have held on to Dan Johnson.

Once a decent prospect w/ Boston, 25.
Could be a nice find. .272/.369/.801 in 700+ Minor league games.

1st base, outfield or dh but he has to prove he can hit first.

Keon Barnum is going to be the Konerko replacement in two years if he stays healthy

And can hit. He has 49 plate appearances in rookie ball, the odds are he won't even be as good as Lars Anderson...
