Default Cy Young Award Goes to Kershaw and Scherzer

No surprise in either case.

Not a bad trade for the Tigers 4 years ago when they traded Granderson and Edwin Jackson and got Austin Jackson and Scherzer in return.

Yep, they really took advantage of that one decent year Jackson has had in his entire career and made something of it.

The only question was whether the votes would be unanimous. I'm a little surprised Sale got a first place vote when he was only named on 20 ballots and he would have only been on six if the hadn't expanded the ballot from three to five places. I thought that if it wasn't unanimous, Darvish would have picked up at least one first-place vote. I read a recent column by someone wrote about why Iwakuma deserved the Cy Young Award, but apparently that wasn't written by someone with a vote.

It wasn't a surprise, though, that one writer put Wainwright first and Kershaw second, or that Kershaw and Scherzer were the only pitchers to be names on 30 ballots.

Congrats to both those guys; tremendous years for both. Kershaw's new deal is going to be obscene!
