Default **Official** 6/15 Swept by KC Postgame Thread

Had plenty of chances to get a big hit but couldn't capitalize.

Alexei had some spectacular defense. We didn't quit. Bullpen was solid again. Abreu and Eaton continue to get on base. Those are the positives.

Walks and homers. Plus they seem to be a better team than we are.

They score 3 runs on 1 hit.
We come back and score 2 on 4 hits.

Where are all the posts ragging on people for not blowing our loads over two wins against Detroit?

Awful series. The Sox never had a lead in any of the three games. Certainly, the Sox blew some chances today. I believe they had at least one runner in scoring position in every inning but the second. However, that said, falling behind 5-0, 5-0 and 6-1 in three consecutive games is a good recipe to get your ass swept. You don't expect to rally from five runs down.

As I've said before, Rienzo is nothing more than a placeholder. He's a starting pitcher only because this club is rebuilding. Ditto Noesi.

With this series, the Royals drew both Rienzo and Noesi. The way they're throwing, it's tough to win games without scoring a lot of runs. I thought Abreu's ball was gone, which would have made it a much different game. However, the wind brought that ball back in.

In the last four games--all losses--the Sox scored 6 runs and our opponents scored 26. And it seems like we were never in any of these games.

Someone is going to tell you the same after the Sox take two straight from the Giants. This is an up and down team.

All series, it seemed like every Sox rally was with two outs, and those clutch 2-out RBI hits did not happen. Twice, they gave up big innings, and were down by 5 or more each game. Yes, I think that the Royals are the better team at this juncture.

And how come the Sox never seem to take advantage of the dreaded leadoff walk? It sure feels like the opposition scores on 80% of them, and the Sox score on maybe 20% of them.

And finally, this defense needs to tighten up. It appears to be an improvement over last year's train wreck, but they are still not very good.

I don't remember these alleged posts by WSI posters "ragging on people" for not getting crazy after two wins over Detroit. For my part, I enjoyed beating the Tigers. I said this after one of the last four in division losses, I hate losing to division opponents.

In a Dennis Green kind of way, the Sox are who I thought they were. They're a .500 or so team. I won't surprised by 3 over or 3 under.

The team that folks were getting giddy about recently is not the Sox. It was the Cubbies. They won 5 in a row and then lost a few. Last Sunday on the program immediately before the Sox game the host was talking about the resurgent Cubbies. A caller dissed the Sox and then said the Cubbies were "about .500" without correction from the host. For the record they were 9 games under .500 at that point. Hardly "about .500"

Then yesterday I heard a bit of a program on WGN's sports outlet. The hosts had the topic of the surging Cubbies, how they are playing better. They are doing worse than last Sunday as they are 11 under .500.

My point, if you want to talk about fans getting boastful and giddy about a Chicago baseball team, the team you should be talking about is the Cubbies. Sox fans here and what I hear on sports radio are fairly level headed about the Sox. Cubbie fans, well every 2 game winning streak is proof of a resurgent team.
